About

Quinton Gordon is a writer, photographer and filmmaker exploring the contemporary Canadian landscape through long-term projects that situate the impact and influence of our social, cultural and political identity on the physical environment.

His approach has been strongly influenced by the New Topographics movement of the 1970s, where man-altered landscapes, or built urban spaces are photographed with a direct, somewhat detached perspective. The work of Andreas Gursky, Thomas Struth, and Edward Burtynsky inspire him to find his subject matter in the banal, often overlooked spaces touched by human influence rather than in the picturesque.

In 2012 he published his first monograph, Mile Zero : A Place Uncertain, followed by DUSK, EDGE and PRESENCE. He continues to work in book and exhibition form with an emphasis on handmade artist-books for many of his projects. His limited edition and unique prints and books are held internationally in both public and private collections.

He lives and works on the unceded, ancestral territories of the Coast Salish People, known today as Vancouver Island and is an active public speaker and educator.
